What is ArtDOG?

Wichita ArtDOG is a 24-hour online fundraising event created to rally community support for local arts organizations. This unique one-day fundraiser is a project of the Wichita Community Foundation (WCF). The event will be on Friday, April 29, 2016, from 12:01 a.m. to 11:59 p.m.

What is the goal of having this event?

The Wichita Community Foundation brings this event to the area with several goals in mind, including:

  • To raise awareness of the current needs of arts organizations in the community
  • To encourage local arts nonprofits to learn how to use digital tools
  • To inspire donors to increase financial support of their favorite local arts organizations

How does it work?

Through a community-wide public relations and marketing campaign, people are encouraged to visit ICTArtDOG.org on April 29, 2016, and donate to registered nonprofit organizations. WCF provides the online giving platform to each nonprofit at no cost to the organization.

Who’s behind this?

The Wichita Community Foundation is leading the campaign. WCF is the catalyst that creates lasting legacies by partnering with people, families and organizations to devote resources to causes that matter. Spirit AeroSystems, Inc. is the 2016 Premier Partner. Fidelity Bank Foundation and Don and Lora Barry are sponsors in the campaign.

Is the Wichita Community Foundation generating any profit from this project?

No. As a matter of fact, WCF has committed $25,000 to be included in the Bonus Pool fund, and are providing the funds to create the giving platform, developed by Lifeboat Creative.

How successful has ArtDOG been?

During the first-ever ArtDOG 2014, held on Feb. 28, 2014, nearly $550,000 was raised for 38 Wichita arts nonprofit organizations. In ArtDOG 2015, 55 Wichita arts nonprofit organizations received a total of $1.17 million.

Who can participate in ArtDOG?

Any individual, family or business may donate to ArtDOG. Donations to nonprofit organizations are tax-deductible and irrevocable. Online contributions can be made via credit or debit card only. Those who wish to make a gift by cash or check may contact the organization to whom the gift would go directly.

How do I make a donation?

Donations to participating organizations may be made online. On April 29, 2016, visit ICTArtDOG.org to search for the nonprofit you would like to support. Click “donate” and enter the appropriate donation information. Donations must be made during the 24-hour period for the participating organizations to qualify for Bonus Pool dollars.

Is there a minimum or maximum donation?

The minimum donation is $10. There is no maximum donation limit.

Who can give?

Anyone with access to the internet with a credit or debit card can contribute to ArtDOG!

Who will receive my contact information?

The organization(s) you choose to support will receive donor name and contact information, unless the donor chooses to make an anonymous contribution.

Can I get a refund?

All donations are final and will not be refunded.

Do I need to have an account to donate?

No, you do not have to create an account to make a donation. You have the option to donate to as many organizations as you'd like all in one transaction.

How do I get a tax receipt?

If you make your gift online, your tax receipt is emailed to you immediately upon successful processing of your donation. To claim a deduction in your taxes, please retain your email donation receipt as an official record. If you misplace this email, you can request a duplicate copy by emailing . Please include your full name, date of donation, amount of donation and name of your designated nonprofit. Donors who deliver their gifts via check or cash can also expect to receive their tax receipt if they wish to do so.

Who is eligible to participate in ArtDOG?

All arts organizations registered as 501(c)(3)s located in Wichita, Kan. are eligible. Each organization will be required to create a profile page on the Wichita Community Foundation Art Day of Giving platform. Arts organizations are defined as "organizations that provide education and artistic leadership to the public through the production, exhibition, advancement or preservation of visual or performing art, literature, film, science, natural or cultural history."

What are the benefits of participating in ArtDOG?

  • Organizations have an opportunity to increase their donor bases
  • Nonprofits can use online and social media tools to enhance their public outreach
  • Nonprofits have the possibility of receiving prizes and bonus pool dollars

Does it cost money for my organization to participate?

All online donations will be charged a 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction. The Wichita Community Foundation will receipt, tally, and disburse the donations. Each organization agrees to inform their donors about the Giving Day. This may include costs for print pieces, artwork, etc. at the organization’s discretion.

We have a small base of individual donors. Is ArtDOG right for us?

Yes! You can use ArtDOG as a way to educate new donors about what you do. Engage your board, partners, staff, and volunteers to help you with outreach.

Do all funds have to be raised on that day to count?

We think it is important to build engagement and excitement leading up to the day. We encourage you to promote giving once your site page is live. Encouraging your regular donors to give to ArtDOG, rather than just a general donation can increase the dollars you receive from the bonus pool.

Is there a limit to the amount a nonprofit can receive from ArtDOG?

No, there is no limit to the amount a nonprofit can receive.

What if I don’t reach my goal?

When you take on a big goal, one risk you run is that you won’t achieve it. Consider your tolerance for this when planning. Our advice is to set an ambitious goal. If you miss, learn from it, celebrate what you did achieve, and plan for the next ArtDOG based on your experience.

How do nonprofits get their donors excited and engaged for ArtDOG?

Organizations that decide to participate in Art Day of Giving will be provided a nonprofit toolkit, available on ICTArtDOG.org, as well as several dates for training leading up the event. Participants are encouraged to get in touch with staff at the Wichita Community Foundation for advice or help.

Do all donations have to go through the website, or are checks and cash acceptable, too?

Online donations must go through the Giving Day website. Gifts of stock, checks, cash, and special transactions must be made directly to the organization to be included in the Giving Day totals. Nonprofit organizations will be required to submit a report to the Wichita Community Foundation of all offline transactions prior to 5:00 p.m. on May 2, 2016 in order for these monies to be included in the bonus pool calculations.

How and when will we receive the online donations?

Within 30 days of April 29, all online monies that have been designated to a specific nonprofit for the purpose of ArtDOG will be disbursed via check by the Wichita Community Foundation.

Do we have to issue tax receipts and thank you letters to our ArtDOG donors?

The Giving Day platform, managed by Lifeboat Creative, handles all charitable receipting of donations. We encourage you to send personal thank you letters to all donors at the conclusion of the event. For all offline donations, WCF will provide you with charitable tax receipts, if you so choose.

How do nonprofits get their donors excited and engaged leading up to the Giving Day?
