Newman University is a 4-year private university located in Wichita. It offers a vibrant fine arts program featuring visual arts, theatre, music, and photography. Newman's Art and Theatre Clubs are hosting an 'Arts Week:' a week packed with events and entertainment for students and supporters of Newman Fine Arts. Details for these events are located below. All are free and open to the public.
The Newman University Art Club will sponsor a sidewalk chalk contest. The theme? ArtDOG. The catch? Quantity vs. quality. Submissions must include an ArtDOG with the hashtag '#ArtDOG.' Both the student who creates the most and best ArtDOG rendering(s) will receive a gift certificate to Scooter's. Students may work in teams but only one prize will be given per category. Students are asked to submit their work via Twitter with #ArtDOG. Contest will begin in Founder's Plaza, but will be extended to the entirety of campus.
Come join the Newman University Theatre Club for a night of short plays. "Tangled Up in Blue" and "The Folder" will be performed by Newman University students and staff. There will also be pizza!
The Newman University Art Club will sponsor another splatter paint event on campus. Only this time, instead of individual pieces, students will work together to create a mural that will be displayed in the De Mattias Fine Arts Center hallway during Final Friday.
